Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge (Gateway Blvd.) over Cumberland River

Completed in 2003 by American Bridge, the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge project involved the fabrication and erection of a 699′ (213m) anchored through-arch bridge and two side girder spans over the Cumberland River. The 571′ (174m) steel box chord arch features 59′ (18m) skewback spans and is supported by 18 cables. The six-lane bridge, with an 11′ pedestrian walkway, connects to the Tennessee Titans football stadium. A custom tieback system was developed to support the uncompleted arch, using towers, stay cables, gravity anchorages, and a jacking system to control geometry.
