Completed in 2012 by American Bridge, this project included superstructure construction for two new bridges—a 3,116’ roadway bridge and a railroad bridge—to support the Kentucky Lock widening. The roadway bridge featured 10 steel plate girder spans, with a 505’ main span erected using the drop-in method. The 2,200-ton railroad truss span was assembled on falsework, floated into position, and lowered onto permanent bearings. A separate 120’ rail bridge was replaced within a 48-hour closure. American Bridge self-performed all steelwork and 10,000CY of concrete deck.
