Completed in 1936 by American Bridge, the Hercílio Luz Bridge project consisted of the fabrication and erection of a 2,624-foot (800m) gravity-anchored steel eyebar chain suspension bridge. At the time of its completion, it was the longest bridge of its type in the world.
