Completed in 1996 by Mole Constructors, the Heights Interceptor, Contract 7A project consisted of approximately 15,250 linear feet of rock tunnel through shale excavated via a 105-inch Lovat Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) at depths ranging from 100 feet to 275 feet. The initial support consisted of channel straps, rock dowels and rock bolts. The final lining was monolithic cast-in-place concrete.
