Completed in 1966 by American Bridge, the Guy A. West Pedestrian Bridge project consisted of the supply and erection of a 744’ (227m) pedestrian-only suspension bridge over the Sacramento River. The scope of work included the supply, fabrication, and erection of two 86’ (26m) welded steel plate towers and two main cables, each consisting of four 2 1/16” (52.4mm) galvanized bridge strands with a 70’ (21m) sag. The suspender ropes are ¾” (19mm) at 12’ (3.66m) centers. The stiffening truss is 16’ (4.9m) wide and 6’ (1.8m) deep.
