Glendive Bridge

Completed in 1902 by American Bridge, the Glendive Bridge project consisted of the construction of a 3-span, 925-foot bridge over the Yellowstone River in Glendive, Montana. The work involved several steps: placing two cofferdams in the river, placing and sawing 72 timber piles, and erecting forms for two concrete piers. The construction team hand-mixed and placed 1,020 cubic yards of concrete, which cost about $3.30 per cubic yard.

The project also involved the erection of three 308-foot by 18-foot wide steel through truss spans, totaling 281 tons of steel, which were erected at a cost of about $15 per ton. Additionally, American Bridge forces placed a 3-inch pine timber deck and applied two coats of paint to the truss.
