Completed in 1949 by American Bridge, the Girardot Bridge project consisted of the fabrication and erection of a 693-foot (211 meters) roadway bridge, including a 505-foot (154 meters) suspension span over the Rio Magdalena River, located in Girardot, Colombia, S.A. The two main cables of the bridge were each made from 12 strands of 1-7/8″ (48mm) diameter wire.
