Completed in 2015 by American Bridge, the George Washington Bridge Upper Level Structural Steel Rehabilitation involved replacing portions of the orthotropic deck with prefabricated, prepaved panels at 79 points. Work included structural steel modifications, secondary floorbeam replacements, steel member repairs, ultrasonic peening of deck welds, lead abatement, drainage installation, asphalt repaving, finger joint rehabilitation, and temporary utility relocations. Traffic maintenance measures included ramp closures, detours, and lane closures. Nighttime work was conducted Monday-Thursday (11 p.m.-5 a.m.) and Friday-Saturday (10 p.m.-10 a.m.).
