Completed in 1981 by American Bridge, the George Moscone Convention Center project consisted of the construction of a new entrance lobby measuring 120′ by 310′, framed by pipe trusses with a 122′ clear span. This expansive lobby was designed to provide an open, welcoming entrance to the convention center, showcasing innovative engineering and design. The use of pipe trusses allowed for the large clear span, enabling an open and unobstructed space that would accommodate large crowds and events.
