Completed in 2001 by American Bridge, the Freeport Ship Care Facility in the Bahamas involved constructing a new ship repair yard under a lump sum contract. Marine work included a 496′ x 65’7″ pier, a bulkhead, eight mooring dolphins, ship fenders, bollards, and a 496′ catwalk. The pier consisted of AASHTO Type-3 girders on pipe piles driven to -95′. The bulkhead spanned 1,247LF with tied-back steel sheet walls. Landside work covered 18.3 acres, featuring a paved storage area, roadways, utility banks, a 13,000SF office, and a 70,000SF workshop with a 20-ton barge crane.
