Forty-five Communications Rooms at Elevated Stations

Completed in 2003 by American Bridge, the Forty-Five Communications Rooms at Elevated Stations project involved designing and constructing 45 communication rooms at elevated stations across Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. The rooms, ranging from 250 to 800 SF, house communications equipment and were built adjacent to or between elevated tracks. Work included structural framing, prefabricated room installation, and electrical/mechanical systems. Coordination with transit and local stakeholders was critical. Most rooms were prefabricated and craned into place, while a few were built on-site. Structural supports were fabricated by American Bridge.
