Completed in 2017, the Fort Hamer Bridge Project with Road Improvements on Fort Hamer Road and Upper Manatee River Road project consisted of the construction of a new river bridge and roadway connecting the existing Upper Manatee River Road south of the river to the existing Fort Hamer Road north of the river. The total project length is 1.4 miles. The bridge carrying two traffic lanes is approximately 2,318 feet and comprised of 18 spans ranging in length from 100 feet to 144 feet. Additional roadway improvements along Upper Manatee River Road included widening, sidewalks, bike lanes, turn lanes, utilities and intersections with Fort Hamer Bridge.
