Completed in 1960 by American Bridge, the Fort Duquesne Bridge project consisted of a 639-foot-long bridge with a 423-foot main arch span and a width of 62 feet. The 65-foot arch rise supports a tie truss with four vehicular lanes on each deck. The bridge was erected by first constructing the entire tie truss, followed by sequential erection of the arch. The project used a total of 4,690 tons of structural steel.
