Completed in 2002 by Johnson Bros. Corporation, the Fort Desoto Gulf and Bay Piers Repairs project consisted of the demolition and replacement of the fishing pier at Fort Desoto County Park. The pier was constructed on 20-inch concrete piling with precast deck slabs with a poured deck topping. The pier extended approximately 1,100 feet into the Gulf of Mexico and was built completely off barges.
