Completed in 1996 by American Bridge, the East Street Bridge project involved demolishing an existing eight-span bridge and constructing a new five-span structure with a through truss main span and plate girder approaches on steel pile foundations and concrete piers. The demolition removed 1,240 tons of steel and 2,330 CY of concrete. The new substructure included widening embankments, installing utilities, and driving 10,000 LF of steel piles. The main span is a 400 parallel chord truss, weighing 1,300 tons. The project also included 1,223 LF of asphalt paving.
