Completed in 2015 by Southland Contracting, the East-West Bank Sewer Interceptor Project consisted of the construction of approximately 3,350 linear feet of 118-inch outside diameter (OD) Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) tunnel for a 78-inch fiberglass reinforced pipe (FRP) wastewater interceptor. The tunnel was installed using steel ring and wood lagging support for the majority of the tunnel as well as 4-flange steel liner plate for the section underneath the east levee of the Trinity River. The 78-inch FRP carrier pipe was installed and grouted in place. The project also consisted of construction of one wastewater outlet structure and 420 linear feet of 102-inch wastewater mains by open cut installation from the Cadiz Pump Station and connecting to the existing 120-inch at the west levee of the Trinity River.
