Chicago Skyway Commercial Avenue Viaduct Rehabilitation

Completed in 2003 by American Bridge, the Chicago Skyway Commercial Avenue Viaduct Rehabilitation involved structural steel repairs on the 13-span west approach to the Calumet River Bridge. The project covered 2,384 feet, including girder and deck truss spans, and required extensive bearing replacements, truss member repairs, and steel fabrication (940,000 lbs). Work was done under live traffic with minimal disruption. It was adjacent to a similar project on the 2,458-foot Calumet River Bridge.
