Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel – Bridge Portion

Completed in 1964 by American Bridge, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel – Bridge Portion project consisted of fabricating and erecting two bridges totaling 4,273′: the North Channel Bridge and the Fisherman’s Inlet Bridge. The North Channel Bridge is a 17-span, two-lane plate girder bridge with a 325′ through truss main span and four continuous girder units. The truss and spans were assembled on barges and floated in. The Fisherman’s Inlet Bridge is a 3-span continuous welded girder structure (140′-180′-140′).
