Chambers Creek Interceptor Tunnel

Completed in 1983 by Mole Constructors, the Chambers Creek Interceptor Tunnel project involved approximately 12,000 linear feet of tunneling, with primary support using R&B (rock and bolt) and a secondary liner of 6 feet diameter RCP (reinforced concrete pipe). The tunneling occurred through glacial deposits under dewatered conditions, employing a 106-inch Lovat Tunnel Boring Machine and a 108-inch Scott Shield Tunnel Boring Machine at depths ranging from 70 feet to 90 feet. Cellular concrete annulus backfill grouting was utilized in the process.
