Completed in 2006 by American Bridge, the Chacao Channel Bridge Engineering Study, Phase 1, was part of a consortium with HOCHTIEF, Vinci, TELSA, and Besalco for a large suspension bridge in southern Chile. The project involved design and investigatory work for a bridge crossing the Chacao Channel. The structure features concrete towers on drilled shaft foundations, a continuous orthotropic steel box girder deck, and main cables weighing 8,900 tons. The project was terminated due to a change in administration.
