Completed in 1962 by American Bridge, the Cart Creek Bridge project consisted of erecting a steel through-arch bridge with a 550′ span, suspended 210′ above the canyon floor. The 28′ roadway is supported by 1-3/4″ cables. Fabricated from 970 tons of steel, the arch has box chords and a 90′ rise. After the Flaming Gorge Dam was built, water levels rose to 30′ below the roadway.
