Canadian National Railroad Bridge Replacement Bridge # M872.90

Completed in 2004 by Johnson Bros. Corporation, the Canadian National Railroad Bridge Replacement Bridge # M872.90 project consisted of the replacement of low-level railroad bridge over Lake Ponchatrain. Construction of a new bridge while maintaining the existing mainline open for traffic. This project was completely performed from barges and included the following scope: concrete piling, pre-cast caps, new concrete ties, new ballast, new rail, handrails, other miscellaneous work. The old bridge and piling had to be removed before the new piling were driven. This was all phased work during windows of scheduled work time using RR inspectors and flagman. The bridge was 4800 linear feet long.
