BNSF – Galveston Causeway Bridge

Completed in 1989 by American Bridge, the BNSF Galveston Causeway Bridge project replaced a double-track rolling bascule with a single-track bridge. The new span was built on an adjacent pier, allowing continued rail traffic with minimal disruption. Once complete, traffic shifted back to the original alignment and the old bridge was demolished. The 110′ x 15′ bascule span was fully designed, engineered, and constructed by American Bridge. The owner was Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway (now BNSF Railway).
