Completed in 1982 by Mole Constructors, the Blue River Force Main project involved the excavation of 8,300 linear feet using a 102-inch Lovat Tunnel Boring Machine. Rock and bolt (R&B) was utilized as tunnel support during the excavation through monolithic shale rock at depths ranging from 35 feet to 102 feet. Post-monolithic contact grouting was applied as part of the project.
