Completed in 2003 by Johnson Bros. Corporation, Black River High-Rise Main Spans Bridge project included the construction of high-rise main spans for the new bridge over the Black River. Once completed the bridge had a 92 ft clearance over the river. Scope of work included the construction of the bridge but not the approaches. Additional scope included four cofferdams measuring approximately 90 ft wide by 100 ft long by 90 ft deep in the river areas. Steel girders with 9 ft deep by 200 ft long were used. All work was performed from barges.
