Bayonne Bridge Strengthening – Fab

Completed in 2003 by American Bridge, the Bayonne Bridge Strengthening project added 60 new longitudinal girders to the 1,675′ main span. Fabricated by American Bridge Manufacturing and Michelman Steel, the upgrade included 40 plate girders and 20 box girders using Grade 70 steel. Originally built in 1931, the bridge was the world’s longest arch bridge at the time and remains the second longest after the New River Gorge Bridge.
