Completed in 1971 by American Bridge, the 222 South Riverside Plaza project involved fabricating and erecting a 24-story office building with a penthouse, plaza, mezzanine, and concourse. It also included a three-story Chicago Mercantile Exchange building with a 225′ x 99′ column-free space supported by four cruciform perimeter columns.
