Completed in 1991 by Mole Constructors, the West Leg Contract No. 1 project encompassed roughly 10,000 linear feet of tunnel for 90-inch concrete pipe. The tunnel traversed silty clays at depths ranging from 85 feet to 110 feet, facilitated by a modified Lovat 126-inch / 130-inch EPB Tunnel Boring Machine.
