Completed in 1985 by Mole Constructors, the Onion Creek Interceptor Tunnel, Section 4 project involved 29,368 linear feet of 110-inch tunnel, employing a 110-inch Lovat Tunnel Boring Machine, a 117-inch Lovat Tunnel Boring Machine, and a 118-inch Scott Spider. Excavation took place through claystone at depths ranging from 50 feet to 110 feet. Cellular concrete annulus and backfill were utilized, followed by monolithic contact grouting.
