Completed in 1991 by Mole Constructors, the Highway 71 Interceptor project involved approximately 3,400 linear feet of 78-inch tunnel using a 78-inch Lovat EPB Tunnel Boring Machine. The tunnel was excavated through shale and mixed faces. The lining comprised 60-inch Reinforced Concrete Pipe, and backfilling was done with cellular concrete.
