Fort Hamer Bridge Project

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

Construction of new river bridge and roadway connecting the existing Upper Manatee River Road south of the river to the existing Fort Hamer Road north of the river. Total project length is 1.4 miles. The bridge carrying two traffic lanes comprised of 18 spans ranging in length from 100 to 144 ft. is approximately 2,318 ft.

Upper Manatee River Road Functional Improvements included widening of existing shoulders, relocating existing roadside ditches, addition of sidewalks, addition of turn lanes at each intersection, and construction of utility adjustments on existing Upper Manatee River Road from the SR64 intersection south to the beginning of the new Fort Hamer Road Bridge.

Additional features included: widening of existing roads, additional bike lanes, wider shoulders, relocating existing road side ditches, sidewalks, and the construction of utility adjustments on existing Fort Hamer Road from Britt Road south to the end of the new Fort Hamer Road Bridge.
