PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

This project provides critical redundancy to the Rochester, New York community’s main supply of fresh water by providing a second major source of Lake Ontario water for the system.

The project consisted of construction of a lake water intake tap over a mile from the shoreline and tunnel system approximately 6,000 LF of 8-ft diameter intake tunnel with a 5,000 LF section underneath Lake Ontario; an intake crib structure; an outfall structure; chemical and sampling piping and supports out to the intake structure; a riser well with structures to accommodate future screening equipment; and pump adits to accommodate future pumping equipment.  The TBM was specifically built for this project by our team of in-house technicians.
