Reconstruction of the Taxiway J Bridge over the George Bean Parkway and right-of-way for the future APM system at the Tampa International Airport was a six phase project.
The project included removal of the existing bridge and construction of a new bridge approximately 300 ft. long and 214 ft. wide. The new bridge is supported by two abutments and three intermediate piers built on 42” and 48” drilled shaft foundations. The superstructure contains pre-stressed concrete beams with transverse post-tensioning topped with a 12” thick slab.
We also constructed MSE retaining walls and concrete pavement approaches on both side of the structure. We self performed all excavation and backfill associated with the temporary traffic patterns.
